Gundam Expo 2010 Hong Kong coming soon

It's December soon, and for Gundam fans in Hong Kong this means Gundam Expo 2010 Hong Kong is coming soon.

The expo will last from 17th December 2010 to 2nd January 2011.

A list of event exclusive items are announced already:
  • 1/144 HG 00 Raiser w/ GN Sword III Metallic Colour ver.
  • 1/144 HGUC RX-78-2 G30th Clear Special ver.
  • 1/100 MG Destiny Gundam Heine Westenfluss Custom (Dalong's review available here)
  • 1/100 MG RX-78-2 Ver. 2.0 Clear Special ver.
  • BB Senshi Unicorn Gundam Clear Special ver.
  • Robot Damashii 00 Raiser (GN Condenser Type)
  • 1/144 HG Gunpla Builders Byaku Shiki (i.e. white Hyaku Shiki)

Like in previous years, the expo will have free admission, showcase for current and upcoming gunpla and other products, shop, minigames, gunpla workshop, card battle area for Gundam War & Battle Spirits, as well as finalist models of this year's BAKUC / Bandai Model Kit World Cup 2010.

The expo will take place in Metropolis Hall in Hung Hom, 12:00pm (noon) to 9pm for weekdays, and 11:00am to 9pm for weekends and public holidays.

You can find the previous coverage of the expo here (2009) and here (2008).

Like the previous 2 years, I will go in and take some pictures for the coverage. Unless you are going for the limited items, the rest of the gunpla etc are probably not worth buying there as they are rather expensive; it's better to buy them in local shops instead. Looking forward to see what the finalist models are for this year's BAKUC~

    4. That's pretty cool, I didn't know there was a Gundam Expo anywhere in the world lol. It must be pretty big in Hong Kong. It used to be big where I live, back when Gundam was first introduced, but has slowly died out. Have fun ^^.

I may go there on a later date but I will try and take as many photos as possible!

And yes I must say that as local Hongkongers we are quite lucky to have access to the gunpla and Gundam-related events etc, where many others can only dream of such opportunities in where they live!

      @ AstrayP03 (Zhe):
The Robot Damashii 00 Gundam + O Raiser + Seven Sword parts does look like a nice bundle, and I'd imagine a lot of people would have their eyes on this too. Hopefully the price won't be too expensive.

I do hope you can get to come over to Hong Kong!

      @ Apt-1B:
      Char's Zaku is literally ambushing the Gundam from the back! ^^;

I don't think I will get to be there in the first week, but I will try and take as many (meaningful) pictures as possible!

      @ AS:
Yes Gundam has been pretty big in Hong Kong for a very long time. I think the original series aired in Hong Kong not too long after Japan. Not surprisingly the Gundam franchise runs on from the younger generations up to those who watched the original when they first aired!

I did hear that places like Singapore has Gundam Expo too, but I am not fully aware of them. Hopefully this year's will be good as well!

This event takes place every year, so don't worry about not being to go; there's always a next time!

    7. Cool... looking forward to your coverage, Q ^^.

On the poster, it looks like Char's Zaku II is about to shoot the Gundam from behind xD

    8. @ Z:
Thanks, will do my best on it!

And the way Char's Zaku II pops out behind the Gundam looks pretty funny - the Gundam does not know what will hit him! XD

    9. So, when is the expo gonna open? I'll be going to Hong Kong by the 22nd of December. Will the gundams be cheaper in the expo?

The expo is already happening now. I will quote what I have said in the post here for you.

17th December 2010 to 2nd January 2011. 12:00pm (noon) to 9pm for weekdays, and 11:00am to 9pm for weekends and public holidays.

As for whether gunpla will be cheaper in the expo, the answer is NO. The only ones worth getting there are the event exclusive ones IMHO. You can take a look at them here for reference (with price).

For normal release gunpla, I will recommend you to go to local hobby stores in Hong Kong, such as those in Kwong Wa Street in Mong Kok.
